For years, MYLAUNDRYBAG CEO & Co-founder, John A. Porfiris had an idea. His vision was to bridge the gap between top quality dry cleaning and convenient accessibility, by building an automated machine similar in concept to that of a vending machine, that could be easily accessible 24/7. He decided if he was going to change the garment care industry and the way people had their garments cleaned, it would also have to be free of the harsh chemicals that traditional dry cleaners would use.
In April 2009, John met David Alonzi, Co-founder of MYLAUNDRYBAG and GreenClean Fabric Care (est.2003) an industry leader and one of the first five in the Greater Toronto Area to adopt environmentally friendly garment care services. John’s vision and David’s experience in the industry combined with his inquisitive interest in technology led to the development of automating “our locker system” that would revitalize and revolutionize the garment care industry in Canada.
